BIOFERTI KITOSAN is an effective elicitor to combat some types of fungi, bacteria and viruses. It is composed of chitosan hydrochloride, Equisetum arvense (horsetail) and Salix alba extract (willow). white). All of them are basic substances, that have a fungicidal and bactericidal effect, by stimulation the natural defense mechanisms of plants.
Bactericidal activity:
The bactericidal activity of chitosan is associated with its cationic character. The free amino groups, positively charged in acidic medium, interact with negative charges of the cell membrane of fungi, change the permeability of the plasma membrane, with the consequent alteration of its main functions.
Fungicidal activity:
Chitosan is a polysaccharide that acts as a bioremediating molecule and stimulates the activity of
beneficial microorganisms in the soil, such as Bacillus, fluorescent, Pseudomonas, Actinomycetes,
mycorrhizae and rhizobacteria, which alters the microbial balance in the rhizosphere, being at a disadvantage the plant pathogens, making them able to compete through mechanisms such as parasitism, antibiosis, and induced resistance, Horsetail decoction (equisetum arvense L) is a good natural fungicide due also to its high silica content and also induces the plant to improve its immune system.
Antiviral activity:
Pre-treatment with chitosan significantly reduces viral infection in several plant species.
Growth stimulation:
Applying chitosan has positive effects on plant growth, stimulating both seed germination and the growth of parts of the plant such as roots, shoots and leaves. Salicylic acid from white willow extract produces a biostimulant effect on various metabolic processes of the plant, also inducing plants to generate natural defense mechanisms.
Preservation of fruit and vegetables:
Due to its ability to form edible coatings, chitosan has been used alone or in combination with other ingredients to prolong the shelf life and improve the quality of both fresh and fresh fruits and vegetables minimally processed.
